  • Community Stepping Stones

Saving children, youth, and community lives through the arts and gardening.

    OUR MISSION

is concerned with the quality of life in neighborhoods. We are dedicated to providing education, mentoring children and adolescents, enhancing the community economics, and enriching the quality of life in the community.

    WHAT WE DO

Through the arts we give them their own voice and means of positive exploration and release of feelings. With guidance, we give them the media, and they make the choices on how to use it. It is wondrous to see the tremendous joy in their discovery of mixing colors and applying paint. Everything we do is based on the child's own exploration. This is what dictates our directions in order to help them find their voice and make their choices.

Through the arts, we change and save children and youth lives by helping them find, develop and respect their voice.

We expose children to the wonders of communication through the arts. By expanding on their motivation and direction we develop creative and critical thinking skills necessary for them to make positive long-term decisions. We show them a viable choice between short-term theft and drugs or creating life and something worthwhile. We do this through an incentive program they understand. We use a business model. We pay them to learn art skills, to apply those skills to a specific job and then to do the job. For example, our youth took drawing, photography and computer classes; then applied those skills to developing two murals (80'x25') about their community for Rowlett Park. We have developed a number of innovative and award winning programs: •Art Education •Park Development / Service-Learning •Art Businesses •Community Arts.

Through the arts, we save youth by offering them tangible and viable positive life choices. We give hope and it is this hope that we are asking you, to help support our art businesses.
